TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Yinxing (銀杏) continues its west-northwest trajectory Thursday (Nov. 7), moving through the southern side of the Bashi Channel into the South China Sea, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署).
Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) highlighted limited intensity in the tropical disturbances following Yinxing, predicting its approach near the northern Philippines by next Monday (Nov. 11) and its passage into the South China Sea by Tuesday, bringing rainfall to eastern Taiwan.
The northeast monsoon has brought brief, localized showers to areas north of Taoyuan, Yilan, and Hualien, with sporadic rain in Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Taitung, as reported by the CWA. The agency also noted increased rainfall in the evening along Keelung's northern coast, Yilan, Hualien, and the mountainous areas of Greater Taipei, with potential for heavy to torrential rain in the northeastern regions.
Early Thursday, temperatures felt slightly cooler than the previous day, with lows around 18 to 21 degrees Celsius across the island. Highs will reach 22 to 25 degrees in northern and eastern areas, including Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, while temperatures in central and southern regions will climb to 28 to 30 degrees, resulting in significant day-night temperature differences.
Lin Te-en commented that Yinxing's storm circle remains small, with minimal expected accompanied effects. He anticipates heavy to torrential rain in northern and Yilan-Hualien regions over the next two days. Residents should prepare for potential weather disruptions and stay informed on further updates.
