TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The National Immigration Agency (移民署) on Tuesday (Nov. 5) announced the formation of a task force to locate an American national previously involved in a sexual assault case. Authorities plan to deport the individual upon discovery, following the law to protect the nation's interests and public safety.
A social media user revealed that the American, convicted in 2001 in the U.S. for lewd acts with a minor, entered Taiwan in October. The immigration agency reported receiving notification of the individual's probation record from 23 years ago only after he arrived in Taiwan. The foreign government has not issued a warrant for his arrest.
The agency has taken immediate action, marking the individual for non-approval of residence permits. They have also confidentially alerted relevant authorities to monitor and locate the individual, aiming to prevent him from obtaining work or residence permits in Taiwan.
