TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) affirmed on Tuesday (Oct. 29) that Taiwan-U.S. relations are thriving and will continue to deepen.
Cho addressed the matter before presenting a report on energy and electricity pricing policies at the Legislative Yuan (立法院), responding to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's remarks that Taiwan should pay protection fees.
Cho expressed confidence in the upcoming U.S. elections, stating that the democratic process will proceed smoothly. He emphasized that Taiwan and the U.S. share a democratic alliance based on common ideals, highlighting the robust development of bilateral relations from the past to the present.
Cho underscored the consensus among major U.S. political parties on the recognition and future development of Taiwan-U.S. relations, which he believes will further strengthen bilateral ties.
