TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Shilin District Court Juvenile Court (SLC, 士林地院少年法庭) convened Friday (Oct. 18) afternoon and ordered the detention of a 15-year-old boy involved in a fatal car accident in Taipei, which killed three people and injured two. The court transferred him to the Taipei Juvenile Detention House (台北少年觀護所) for further investigation under the "Juvenile Justice Act" (少年事件處理法).
The teenager, surnamed Tseng (曾), was taken into custody following the crash in Taipei's Neihu District. Tseng reportedly took his grandfather's car without permission to meet friends, resulting in a collision near Donghu Market (東湖市場), which left three people dead and two injured.
Police cited speeding and loss of control as causes of the accident and ruled out alcohol or drug involvement after testing the teenager’s blood and urine. Tseng has been charged with negligent homicide. Speaking to the media, Tseng's father expressed deep remorse and vowed to take full responsibility for his son’s actions, saying, "I am truly sorry."
The Shilin District Prosecutors Office (士林地檢署) confirmed that autopsies were completed on the three deceased victims, concluding that they died from injuries sustained in the crash.
