TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Economic Minister J.W. Kuo (郭智輝) unveiled plans on Monday (Oct. 14) to establish a power plant in the Philippines, aiming to bring green energy back to Taiwan.
During the launch of the Indo-Pacific Thinktank (IPST, 印太戰略智庫), Kuo emphasized Taiwan's crucial role in the international semiconductor supply chain and the need to develop overseas production bases.
Kuo acknowledged widespread concerns in Taiwan about insufficient green energy and revealed plans for the power plant in the Philippines. He expressed gratitude for the significant assistance from AIT Director Raymond Greene (谷立言) and highlighted international collaboration in this endeavor.
Kuo also hopes the IPST will enhance global understanding of Taiwan's pivotal role in regional economic security. Moreover, Kuo expressed eagerness to participate in the Luzon Economic Corridor initiative, which is driven by the U.S., Japan, and the Philippines and aims to bolster regional economic security.
