Inventec to seek new locations for better electricity rates (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) —An Inventec's (英業達) top executive warned on Tuesday (Oct. 1) that the company must continuously adapt to changes and seek different locations to secure more competitive electricity rates.

This statement follows the recent decision by the electricity rate review committee to freeze residential electricity rates and increase industrial electricity rates by an average of 12.5%.

Inventec's Chairman Yeh Li-cheng (葉力誠) emphasized adjusting the company's structure regardless of electricity rate fluctuations. Yeh noted that besides using artificial intelligence (AI) to save energy in our factories, Inventec is also exploring different locations, hoping the government can effectively provide green electricity or more competitive rates.

The new electricity rates, which will take effect on Oct. 16, will impact approximately 500,000 households. The highest increase in industrial electricity rates is 14%. However, industries experiencing significant declines in electricity usage and production value will see a reduced rate increase or a freeze, with the average adjustment being 12.5%.
