TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism (觀光傳播局) announced Monday (Sept. 30) that all 5,000 tickets for the 2024 National Day evening gala were claimed within 15 minutes of their release.
The event, scheduled for Oct. 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋), will feature the return of singer Jody Chiang (江蕙), who has not performed in nine years.
Gold medalists from the Olympics Games (巴黎奧運), including boxer Lin Yu-ting (林郁婷) and badminton doubles champions Lee Yang (李洋) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟), will lead the national anthem.
The program will also include cheerleading performances and a fashion show. Organizers planned for 5,400 seats, with 400 reserved for seniors and 5,000 tickets available through UDN's ticketing website starting at noon.
Reporters testing the system at noon found the page displaying "Please be patient as there are too many people entering the website" with an estimated wait time of 20 minutes. The department reminded attendees that tickets are non-transferable, and entry will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the event day with ID checks.
For those unable to secure tickets, the department will set up a secondary viewing area at Songyan Avenue (松菸大道) beside the Taipei Dome, featuring a live broadcast on a projection screen. Parking at the Taipei Dome will be restricted from midnight, and the department urged participants to use public transportation.
The department recommended utilizing shuttle buses on six routes connecting the Taipei Dome to Songshan Station (松山車站), Songshan Airport (松山機場), Taipei Main Station (台北車站), MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station (忠孝復興站), MRT Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station (台北101/世貿站), and MRT Gongguan Station (公館站).
