TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Director General Ho Shu-ping (何淑萍) of the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA, 民航局) announced on Friday (Sept. 27) that new drone regulations are set to take effect on Dec. 1. The initiative includes aims to educate middle school students on drone operation.
The CAA, Chiayi County Government, and the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology hosted the "2024 International Drone and Advanced Air Mobility Vehicle Inspection Forum" (2024國際無人機及先進空中交通載具檢驗論壇) in Chiayi County. Representatives and experts from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the European Union, and the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau attended.
Ho emphasized the impact of manufacturing inspection standards and development directions on drone advancement.
She explained that foreign experts were invited to share their inspection policies and directions, helping domestic manufacturers understand the foreign inspection requirements for exports.
Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang (翁章梁) highlighted the necessity for Taiwan's drone market to align with international standards, adding that through the forum, industry players can express their opinions, and the overall regulatory framework can incorporate their feedback.
The discussions covered the basics and current status of the FAA's Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) vehicle inspections, the EU's drone inspection framework, and the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau's drone and international cooperation.
