TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) legislator announced on Tuesday (Sept. 24) that New Taipei City now hosts 40 consultation centers for new immigrants, the highest number nationwide.
The DPP's New Taipei City branch organized a press conference to mark the opening of these centers.
DPP Legislator Su Chiao-huei (蘇巧慧), Deputy Director of the DPP's Department of New Immigrants Affairs (新住民事務部) Luo Yi-jing (羅宜菁), and several legislators attended the event.
Su highlighted that the centers offer seven languages brochures covering essential information such as food, clothing, housing, transportation, driver's license exams, job searches, health insurance, and children's education. Each brochure includes contact numbers for legislators, councilors, and local representatives.
Su expressed her vision for these centers, hoping they will become the primary portal for new immigrant services and Taiwan's leading brand.
She emphasized that the initiative to establish these centers follows instructions from DPP Chairman Lai Ching-te (賴清德). Su stated this move aims to broaden engagement with various social strata and ethnic groups.
