TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Department of Investment Review, Ministry of Economic Affairs (經濟部投資審議會), approved Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, 台灣積體電路製造股份有限公司) to invest an additional US$7.5 billion in its Arizona plant on Monday (Sept. 23). The funds will support the manufacturing, sales, testing, and circuit design of integrated circuits and other semiconductor devices.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA, 經濟部) has approved a cumulative investment of US$24 billion in TSMC's U.S. facilities since 2020. The ministry approved four other significant investment projects in addition to TSMC. Wiwynn Corporation (緯穎科技) will invest US$60 million in its Malaysia plant for the cloud data center.
Orsted Wind Power of Denmark will invest NT$7.8 billion in Orsted Greater Changhua SE Holdings (沃旭東南大彰化控股) to manage the Greater Changhua Southeast offshore wind farm. Meanwhile, Hon Hai Precision Industry (鴻海精密工業) will indirectly invest US$27 million in Hongfujin Precision Electronics in Chengdu (鴻富錦精密電子成都) to expand its tablet and notebook production.
Also, Primax Electronics (致伸科技) will increase its stake in TYMPHANY (惠州迪芬尼聲學科技) by acquiring 22.99% for US$42.3 million to enhance its manufacturing and sales of audio equipment and wearable smart devices.
