TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's top male shuttler, Chou Tien-chen (周天成), triumphed in the first round of the Victor China Open 2024 on Wednesday (Sept. 18), defeating China's Li Shi Feng (李詩灃) 21-17, 21-18.
Chou's victory has propeled him into the round of 16.
Chou and Li previously faced off in the 2023 China Open, where Li clinched victory after a grueling three-game match. Li, currently ranked fourth globally, recently secured the runner-up position at the 2024 Badminton Asia Championships.
Chou, ranked ninth globally, has been on a competitive streak since the Yonex Taipei Open in September. He will next face the winner between China's Weng Hongyang (翁泓陽) and Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu (李卓耀), aiming to continue his impressive run.
