TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Economic Minister Kuo Jyh-huei (郭智輝) said on Monday (Sep. 2) that the SEMICON Taiwan 2024 exhibition is expected to attract 85,000 visitors this week. At the pre-event press conference, Kuo highlighted the Ministry of Economic Affairs's (MOEA, 經濟部) innovative measures to boost tourism during the event.
The MOEA will provide shuttle buses for exhibitors and offer shopping discounts at major department stores in Taipei. Additionally, the ministry has recommended popular restaurant routes to enhance the visitor experience.
Kuo emphasized that the advent of generative AI has rapidly accelerated the development of AI applications and services. Taiwan plays a pivotal role in this wave, as the country is leading in supplying AI servers and chips required by NVIDIA and AMD, as well as application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs).
The minister also stated that the government aims to ensure national competitiveness through tax incentives, chip innovation programs, and semiconductor talent training.
