TAIPEI (TVBS News) — STARLUX Airlines (星宇航空) announced on Tuesday (Aug. 27) the launch of a new route from Taichung to Okinawa (沖繩), starting Dec. 2. The airline will offer four weekly round-trip flights, marking its first regular route from Taichung to Japan. STARLUX reportedly aims to provide more convenient travel options for central Taiwan residents and attract Japanese tourists to Taichung.
The new route will be operated by the A321neo aircraft, which seats 188 passengers, including eight in business class and 180 in economy. Tickets are available for purchase starting immediately. STARLUX has partnered with Hoshino Resort (星野集團) to offer unique travel packages, allowing passengers to stay at three different Hoshino Resort hotels.
Since late March, STARLUX has operated routes from Taichung to Macau (澳門) and Da Nang (峴港) in central Vietnam, as well as charter flights to Takamatsu (高松) in Japan. Moreover, the airline plans to launch a route from Taichung to Phu Quoc (富國島) in Vietnam on Oct. 27.
With the addition of the Taichung-Okinawa route, STARLUX continues to expand its network from central Taiwan and evaluate further market development opportunities.
