TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Olympic boxing gold medalist Lin Yu-ting (林郁婷) expressed her honor and pride in being called "Taiwan's daughter" (台灣女兒) on Tuesday (Aug. 13). She believes this title signifies a greater responsibility she must bear.
Fans warmly welcomed Lin upon her return to Taiwan, and New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜), along with Lin's mother, was also at the airport to greet the "pride of Taiwan."
Lin clinched the gold medal at the Olympics but faced a gender controversy during the event. She later revealed that she had turned off all social media platforms during the competition to focus on her performance.
She thanked her boxing team for their support and hoped her efforts would help the world recognize Taiwan. After a long time competing abroad, Lin said she looks forward to enjoying a good meal and "building a relationship with her bed."
Regarding her plans, Lin mentioned she would discuss them with her coach and promised to share good news with everyone soon.
