TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) announced on Saturday (Aug. 10) a significant increase in next year's social welfare budget to enhance the Social Safety Net 2.0 program and support vulnerable families.

Speaking at an awards ceremony in Taipei, where outstanding personnel and organizations strengthening the social safety net were recognized, Premier Cho highlighted the essential roles of social workers, supervisors, and business leaders in implementing government policies across society. President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) also expressed gratitude in a video message, urging collective efforts to create a warm, safe, and happy home.

Cho emphasized that the Social Safety Net 2.0 program will provide crucial support to those in need, aiming to foster a healthier Taiwan and improve the overall living environment.

President Lai reviewed the 2025 central government budget proposal earlier on Tuesday, which outlines a total revenue of NT$3.1534 trillion and expenditures of NT$3.1325 trillion. The largest portion of expenditures is allocated to social welfare, followed by education, culture, economic development, and defense.
