CHIAYI (TVBS News) — The Chiayi Air Force Base (嘉義空軍基地) hosted a military open house event on Saturday (Aug. 10), attracting over 100,000 attendees.
Despite an early morning drizzle in Chiayi, public enthusiasm for national defense remained strong as crowds gathered to witness F-16V fighter jets performing complex aerial maneuvers.
Republic of China (Taiwan) Air Force Chief of Staff Liu Jen-yuan (劉任遠) addressed the crowd, acknowledging the tense situation in the Taiwan Strait. He assured the public that the Air Force is committed to defending the nation's airspace and will never surrender.
The event featured dynamic aerial displays and static equipment exhibitions, showcasing 16 types of airborne gear and 11 types of ground equipment. A highlight was the Chiayi-based Air Force Rescue Team's UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter, which demonstrated a battlefield rescue, captivating the audience with its precision and efficiency.
Attendees left with a renewed appreciation for the military's capabilities and dedication, underscoring the importance of public support for national defense.
