TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Taiwanese canoeist Wu Shao-hsuan (吳少璿) returned to Taiwan on Thursday (Aug. 8), reflecting on his valuable experience competing against international, top athletes. Wu and Chang Chu-han (張筑涵) participated in the Canoe Slalom event at the Olympics but did not advance past the preliminaries.
Wu, competing in his first Olympics, noted that the event featured more renowned athletes than the Asian Games. He expressed his desire to continue challenging top athletes worldwide despite the disappointing results this time. Wu also mentioned his pre-race ritual of mimicking hand gestures from the anime "Jujutsu Kaisen" (咒術迴戰) to bring good luck.
Chang, in her second Olympic appearance, highlighted the wealth of experience gained and observed the progress and technical skills of the athletes. She believes the high spectator appeal of the Canoe Slalom could attract more public interest and hopes more Taiwanese people will follow the sport.
