TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL, 中華職業棒球大聯盟) team TSG Hawks (台鋼雄鷹) announced Thursday (Aug. 8) that Olympic bronze medalist Lee Meng-yuan (李孟遠) will throw the ceremonial first pitch at Taipei Dome (臺北大巨蛋) on Friday, following his bronze medal win in the Skeet Men event at the Olympics.
The TSG Hawks also revealed that badminton star Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) will perform the first pitch on Aug. 11. Due to high demand for presale tickets, the team decided to open additional seating in the L2 upper deck.
Initially, the team intended to invite Wang's doubles partner, Lee Yang (李洋), but scheduling conflicts made his participation impossible. As a creative alternative, the Hawks arranged for baseball player Wang Po-jung (王柏融), who resembles Lee, to team up with Wang for the event.
The TSG Hawks will host a three-game series against the CTBC Brothers (中信兄弟) from Aug. 9 to Aug. 11 at Taipei Dome. Fans can look forward to an exciting weekend filled with baseball and special guest appearances.
