TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan badminton duo Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) and Lee Yang (李洋) will face the world’s top-ranked Chinese counterpart, Liang Wei-keng (梁偉鏗) and Wang Chang (王昶), on Sunday (Aug. 4) at around 10:10 p.m. The pair aims to secure their first gold medal for Team Taiwan in this year’s Olympics.

Liang Wei-keng and Wang Chang, both 23, have dominated the men's doubles scene with over 100,000 ranking points. Wang Chang excels in front-court maneuvers, while Liang Wei-keng's powerful back-court play makes them a formidable team.

The head-to-head record between the two pairs stands at 2-3 in favor of the Chinese duo. Their most recent encounters in the 2024 French Open and All England Open Badminton Championships resulted in one win each.

Previously, Wang Chi-lin and Lee Yang earned their spot in the gold medal match by defeating Denmark’s second-seeded Kim Astrup (阿斯特魯普) and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (拉斯姆森) 2-1. This victory marks their second consecutive Olympic final appearance.

The upcoming match promises to be a thrilling contest as both teams vie for the top podium spot. Fans eagerly await to see if Wang Chi-lin and Lee Yang can turn the tide and clinch the gold.
