PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting (林郁婷) declared on Thursday (Aug. 1) that recent criticisms have not affected her, attributing them to her opponents' fear.
Lin has faced gender-related attacks, including public condemnation from British author J.K. Rowling. Lin explained that she had deleted all social media apps to focus entirely on her training prior to the Games, emphasizing that these controversies have had minimal impact on her.
She stated that her preparation is going well, primarily focusing on mental adjustments to improve her performance. Lin's journey has seen ups and downs. She exited in the round of 16 at her first Tokyo Olympics and won a bronze medal at the World Championship in 2023. However, officials disqualified her at the awards ceremony, citing a failed gender test, which led to the revocation of her medal. After presenting proof of her innocence, Lin clinched a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games, securing her ticket to the Paris Olympics.
On Friday (Aug. 2) at 9:30 p.m., Lin will face Uzbekistan's Sitora Turdibekova in the women's boxing 57kg round of 16. Fans eagerly await Lin's performance, hoping she can overcome the challenges and showcase her skills on the global stage.
