PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwan's top female badminton player Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) will face Lianne Tan of Belgium in the Women's Singles group stage at the Paris Olympics on Sunday (July 28). This match marks Tai's final Olympic appearance, adding emotional weight to her quest for gold.
Tai, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, will compete at La Chabert Stadium (拉夏貝爾體育館). She has a strong record against Tan, having won both previous encounters.
A day earlier, Tai posted a selfie taken in front of the Eiffel Tower on social media, captioning it with an encouraging message: "The game is about to start. Please work hard until the last minute. Fight on."
In the Men's Singles, Chou Tien-chen (周天成) will face Mexico's Lino Muñoz. Chou has been preparing rigorously at the Levallois Sporting Club in recent weeks. He also took time to mentor local children alongside fellow player Wang Tzu-wei.
Fans eagerly anticipate Tai's and Chou's performances, which could set the tone for Taiwan's showing at the Paris Olympics.
