TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 交通部中央氣象署) reported that a low-pressure system moved away on Sunday (July 28), shifting the environment to southeasterly winds.
This change will bring localized short-term showers or thunderstorms to Hualien (花蓮), Taitung (台東), and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島). Other regions will experience cloudy skies with scattered afternoon thunderstorms, while heavy rain may occur in central and southern regions and northern mountainous areas.
The CWA warned that due to the significant rainfall accumulation in recent days, mountainous areas face risks of landslides, falling rocks, and debris flows. Coastal low-lying areas should be cautious of flooding.
Rainfall reduction will lead to rising temperatures. The eastern regions will see highs of 31 to 32 degrees Celsius, while the western regions may reach 33 to 35 degrees. New Taipei (新北), Taichung (中彰投), and Kaohsiung-Pingtung (高屏) areas have a chance of surpassing 36 degrees, making the weather sweltering when it is not raining.
