PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwan's judo athletes made a strong start at the Olympics on Saturday (July 27). Yang Yung-wei (楊勇緯) advanced to the quarterfinals, while Lin Chen-hao (林真豪) secured a victory in the round of 32 in the women's 48kg category.
Lin faced Colombia's Erika Lasso in the elimination round of 32, where she first scored a half-point with a foot technique. She then transitioned to a pin, achieving an IPPON in 10 seconds, ultimately winning 10-0. Lin's match lasted less than three minutes, showcasing her strength and advancing her to the round of 16.
Lin, who finished seventh at the Tokyo Olympics, set a record for Taiwan in her weight class. Her victory in the first round of the Olympics reflects her continued determination. Lin will next face Abiba Abuzhakynova from Kazakhstan, the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games silver medalist.
