TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Typhoon Gaemi (凱米) brought heavy rain to Taichung City's Dadu District (大肚區) on Wednesday (July 24), causing 20 cm of flooding, while the city experienced power outages which affected 3,703 households.
The Wuri Precinct (烏日分局) of Taichung City's Police Department received a report at around 12:05 a.m. on Wednesday about 20 cm of flooding at No. 292, Section 2, Youyuan Road, Dadu District.
Police cordoned off the area with traffic cones and directed the traffic flow to ensure safety. The Taichung Branch of Taiwan Power Company (台電台中區處) reported that strong winds from Typhoon Gaemi caused trees to fall on power lines, leading to power outages.
By Wednesday morning, 3,703 households in Taichung had lost power. Taiwan Power Company restored electricity by noon, and also dispatched personnel and equipment to remote mountain and coastal areas to prevent road blockages from interrupting power restoration efforts.
