TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Minister of Environment Peng Chi-ming (彭啟明) confirmed on Tuesday (July 2) that the National Climate Change Response Committee will hold its first meeting by the end of July. The announcement follows President Lai Ching-te's (賴清德) establishment of three major task force committees a month into his tenure.
Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun (鄭麗君), President of Academia Sinica James C. Liao (廖俊智), and Chairman of Pegatron Corporation Tung Tzu-hsien (童子賢) serve as deputy conveners for the National Climate Change Response Committee. Their expertise will guide Taiwan's climate strategy.
President Lai formed the National Climate Change Response Committee, the Whole-of-Society Defense Resilience Committee, and the Healthy Taiwan Promotion Committee to strategize national development. He will personally convene these committees quarterly.
