TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (台灣工商企業聯合會) delegation on Tuesday (June 25) visited the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (中華全國工商聯) in Beijing, fostering dialogue on economic, trade, and cultural collaboration. Gao Yunlong (高雲龍), Vice-Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairperson of the All-China Federation, advocated for increased Taiwanese investment and trade expansion.
Gao highlighted the essential role of private enterprises in mainland China's economic development, noting the significant opportunities for cross-strait economic and trade cooperation despite China's large population and growing economic scale. Meanwhile, Hsu Hsien-rong (許顯榮), the chairperson of the supervisory board of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reflected on the 30-year relationship between the two organizations, including joint efforts with The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (香港中華廠商聯合會) and the Associação Comercial de Macau (澳門中華總商會).
The collaborative "Cross-Strait and Hong Kong, Macau Economic and Trade Cooperation Seminar," held biennially in Taipei, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macau, has convened 15 times, significantly warming cross-strait economic and trade relations. Wang Ming-hsiang (王明祥), director of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the substantial achievements of Taiwanese businesses in mainland China and advocated for regular youth forums to further cross-strait economic integration. Honorary group leader Wang Ping-sheng (王屏生) called China an optimal investment destination for Taiwanese businesses, urging closer project alignment despite political tensions, hopeful that such efforts would warm bilateral relations.
