TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The International Golf Federation (IGF) has confirmed Taiwanese golfers Chien Pei-yun (錢珮芸) and Hsu Wei-ling (徐薇淩) to represent Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) at the Paris Olympics. This will be Hsu's second Olympic appearance and Chien's first.
The selection was based on the women's world golf rankings, which were finalized on June 24. Under the Olympic guidelines, if a player ranks outside the top 15, each country may send up to two players. Currently, Chien is ranked 88th, making her the highest-ranked Taiwanese player within the top 100. Hsu, who ranks 161st, is the second representative from Taiwan.
Chien shared her enthusiasm about participating in the Olympics, noting the challenging conditions of the French courses' long grass, but she is confident that her professional experience will be advantageous. Hsu, who placed 15th in the Tokyo Olympics, experienced a dip in her performance earlier this year but recovered in time to qualify for the Paris Games. She expressed gratitude for another opportunity to compete on behalf of her country.
The complete roster for Taiwan's Olympic golf representatives includes men's team members Yu Chun-an (俞俊安) and Pan Cheng-tsung (潘政琮). The latter won Taiwan's first Olympic golf medal, a bronze, at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Both Chien and Hsu round out the women's team.
