TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim remarked on Tuesday (June 18) that the global tech industry's attention is currently focused on Taiwan. To balance the industry's expansion and development, from hardware and manufacturing to services, the government hopes to support it.
Speaking with business leaders, Hsiao stressed the importance of mastering AI instead of being replaced by it. She expressed hope that every future generation of Taiwanese would be able to enhance their work environment efficiency through AI, leading to continuous growth and expansion of the digital economy industry.
The vice president pointed out that e-commerce and the digital economy are vast fields with high expectations. The government aims to support the industry's unlimited expansion and development while maintaining balance.
In addition to the hardware and manufacturing sectors, which have been particularly emphasized in Taiwan, the fruits of economic growth should extend to other service sectors, promoting more balanced overall development in Taiwan.
Hsiao stated that digitalization, technologization, and intelligence are crucial elements mentioned in the President's "National Project of Hope." She reiterated the need for control over AI rather than letting AI replace us.
She expressed hope that every future generation of Taiwanese would be able to enhance work environment efficiency through AI, leading to continuous growth and expansion of the digital economy industry.
Hsiao said Taiwan faces many challenges. She was pleased to have the opportunity to listen to the views of the TiEA representatives and looked forward to dialogue and exchanges with them.
