TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Starting Thursday (June 6), Taiwan is set to experience seven consecutive days of rainfall, affecting the Dragon Boat Festival holiday with nationwide showers.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) attributes this wet weather pattern to the eastward movement of the rain cloud area from South China and a low-pressure belt approaching Taiwan from the Guangdong sea area, bringing rain across the island today.
The CWA forecasts brief showers or thunderstorms in southern Taiwan and the central mountainous regions today, with an increased chance of heavy rainfall in the afternoon. Other areas also face a high likelihood of rain.
Despite the rain, temperatures will remain comfortable during the day when it stops raining, with lows around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius and highs ranging from 25 to 26 degrees in the north and 27 to 30 degrees in other regions.
Meteorologist Wu Der-rong noted that from tomorrow until next Wednesday (June 12), a stationary front over the northern seas of Taiwan will bring unstable atmospheric conditions, particularly in the afternoon when strong convective development is likely.
From Sunday (June 9) to Wednesday (June 12), as the front lies over the northern seas of Taiwan, the island will be under the influence of southwesterly winds ahead of the front, increasing the chance of brief showers or thunderstorms in the central and southern regions.
The weather is expected to remain unsettled with brief showers or thunderstorms likely in the central and southern areas from June 13 to 15, with other regions also experiencing possible brief showers or thunderstorms.
