TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Defense Industry Development Association (台灣國防產業發展協會) is set to host the exclusive Taiwan-US Defense Business Forum (台美國防產業論壇) at the Taipei International Convention Center on Thursday (June 6).
This closed-door event marks a significant gathering of defense industry leaders, scholars, and experts from Taiwan and the United States, aiming to foster collaboration and innovation in the defense sector.
The forum will see nearly 30 U.S. companies sending representatives, totaling 40 participants, alongside approximately 80 local manufacturers. With invited scholars and experts included, the event will host around 140 attendees.
This year's forum is particularly noteworthy due to the increased participation from U.S. firms, including traditional arms manufacturers and companies specializing in unmanned vehicles such as drones and unmanned speedboats.
Highlighting the forum's agenda is a keynote speech by former Deputy Minister of Defense and current legislator Chen Yeong-kang (陳永康), scheduled for noon.
Since its inception in 2018, the forum has been a collaborative effort between the Taiwan Defense Industry Development Association and the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei.
Held annually in Taiwan during the first half of the year and in the United States during the second, the forum serves as a critical platform for dialogue and partnership in the defense industry.
