TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Nvidia is riding the wave of generative AI enthusiasm, with CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) highlighting the transformative potential of video and physics-based information as the next big thing in an interview with Reuters on Thursday (May 23).
"There's a lot of information in life that has to be grounded by video, grounded by physics. So that's the next big thing," he stated.
Huang emphasized the growing importance of video in conveying information, a trend expected to drive significant demand for Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs).
Nvidia, a leading AI chip manufacturer, is benefiting from the surge in interest in generative AI technologies. The company anticipates that new AI models capable of creating videos and engaging in voice interactions will lead to an increase in GPU orders.
"You've got 3D video and a lot of stuff you're learning from. So those systems are going to be quite large," he said, underscoring the potential for expansive growth in this area.
The demand for more computing power to train and run advanced AI systems is driving the need for chips like Nvidia's H200. This chip is used in OpenAI's multimodal model GPT-4o, which can conduct real voice conversations and interact across text and images.
Following the announcement of more than a fivefold sales growth in its data center division for the first quarter on May 22 U.S. time, Nvidia also projected that its quarterly revenue would significantly exceed financial forecasts.
