TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Legislative Yuan continued its review of congressional reform bills on Tuesday (May 21), with the Kuomintang (KMT), Taiwan People's Party (TPP), and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) engaging in heated exchanges.

The KMT and TPP repeatedly called for "congressional reform" and "meetings," while the DPP insisted on "negotiations," "opposing rigged operations," and "reviews."

When Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu took the stage to speak, DPP legislators shouted slogans, prompting KMT legislators to retaliate. The verbal clash left Han momentarily speechless, shaking his head in frustration before summoning representatives from all three parties to the chairman's lounge for discussions.

Han expressed his disappointment over the May 17 brawl in the Legislative Yuan that resulted in injuries, stating it did not reflect the true, good, and beautiful aspects of Taiwan to the world.

Han urged party leaders to restrain their members and proposed a point-by-point discussion, with each party sending one representative to speak. This suggestion was met with protests from DPP legislators, who argued that speaking rights should be granted based on registration.
