TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) chaired his last Cabinet meeting on Thursday, reviewing President Tsai Ing-wen's (蔡英文) administration's achievements over eight years and endorsing the Cabinet's resignation. The motion was passed at approximately 10:10 a.m., with Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan (鄭文燦), Secretary-General Li Meng-yen (李孟諺), and spokesperson Lin Tzu-lun (林子倫) in attendance.
Under President Tsai's leadership, Premier Chen noted the implementation of policies that revitalized the economy and enhanced citizen welfare, citing the completion of a post-pandemic recovery budget and the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program. Despite numerous challenges, these initiatives contributed to a resilient Taiwan.
Chen expressed gratitude to all ministers and civil servants, presenting gifts to Cabinet members. He announced the forthcoming Action Innovation AI Cabinet, set to launch on May 20, 2024, aligning with President-elect Lai Ching-te's (賴清德) inauguration. He urged departments to maintain high standards.
Highlighting the economic achievements under President Tsai, Chen pointed to the Taiwan stock index, which reached a record high of 21,308 points on May 15. As the new Cabinet prepares to take over, Chen's tenure is marked by significant progress and high expectations for his successors.
