TAITUNG (TVBS News) — The 2024 Taiwan International Balloon Festival is set to take place at Luye Highland from July 6 to August 19. Celebrating Hello Kitty's 50th birthday in collaboration with Sanrio, this visually captivating event will feature 12 balloon night glow concerts, making it a prime summer destination for families.
Taitung County Magistrate Yao Ching-ling remarked on April 28 that the festival consistently showcases new innovations. This year, it commemorates Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary, offering visitors a glimpse of Hello Kitty and other cherished Sanrio characters.
For the first time, the festival will include 12 balloon night glow concerts, with eight accompanied by 500 drones and a fireworks display, enhancing the visual spectacle. The events will conclude with performances by singer Nick Chou and the band W0LF(S) on July 11 and August 19.
Yao stated the festival's collaboration with Hualien County aims to boost regional tourism, encouraging visitors to bring Hualien souvenirs in support of the area recently affected by severe earthquakes.
