TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a significant move to bolster Taiwan-Japan relations, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) hosted a dinner on Tuesday (April 30) to welcome a delegation led by Takako Suzuki (鈴木貴子), the Japan Liberal Democratic Party Youth Division Director.
Wu expressed enthusiasm for the division's annual visits, highlighting its role in strengthening the bonds and friendship between Taiwan and Japan.
Deepening Ties Through Dialogue
The visiting delegation included notable figures such as Senator Kazuhiro Fujii (藤井一博), Members of the House of Representatives Junpei Kaneko (金子俊平) and Sakon Yamamoto (山本左近), Senator Rio Yonamine (友納理緒), and Masato Aso (麻生將豊), the chairman of the Japan Youth Council's "Japan-Taiwan Friendship Association."
During the dinner, discussions covered critical issues like cybersecurity cooperation between Taiwan and Japan, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, North Korea, and regional security situations. These talks are pivotal in deepening the solid partnership and substantial cooperation between the two nations.
A Mutual Commitment to Peace and Stability
Wu pointed out Japan's recent reaffirmations of the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, noting that Taiwan's security is inseparable from global stability and prosperity. Taiwan welcomes and appreciates Japan's stance on this matter.
Suzuki emphasized the mutual support and assistance between Taiwan and Japan when facing challenges, pledging continued cooperation to contribute to regional peace, development, and stability as Taiwan's partner.
