TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Health Service Training Center (HSTC), established in 2023, opened its doors to the media on Tuesday, showcasing its latest battlefield medical training technologies, including virtual reality (VR) and transport vehicle simulators.
HSTC instructor Chen Chun-hung said trainees wear electric shock patches during exercises. "If you don't take cover appropriately during an attack, you will receive a mild electric shock," he noted.
The center models real combat situations, such as those in the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine conflicts, featuring simulators of High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) and UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to provide a realistic training environment.
Instructors, including Chou Kai-hsuan, have received advanced training from U.S. military medical officers. Chou said, "The U.S. military has a lot of practical training experience, which we can apply to our teaching."
The HSTC is the first in Taiwan to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) technology, with training areas focused on tactical combat casualty scenario simulation, major disaster incident simulation, vehicle care simulation, multifunctional rescue skill training, and hazardous environment and material rescue training.
