TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former President Ma Ying-jeou arrived in China on Monday (April 1), landing at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport around 2 p.m. This 11-day visit marks Ma's second trip to the mainland. His itinerary includes stops in Guangdong, Shaanxi, and Beijing.
Upon his arrival, Ma was welcomed by Taiwan Affairs Office Deputy Director Pan Xianzhang and other Chinese officials, who presented him with flowers. Without taking questions from the press, Ma left the airport by car. His first visits were to the headquarters of SZ DJI Technology Co. and Tencent.
Rumors are circulating that Ma will meet with Taiwan Affairs Office Director Song Tao later this evening. He is expected to arrive in Beijing on April 7, with speculations about a potential meeting with Xi Jinping on April 8 or 9.
Before leaving from Taoyuan Airport, Ma described his trip as a "journey of peace" and a "journey of friendship," aiming to ease tensions across the Taiwan Strait.
