TAIPEI (TVBS News) — American fried chicken brand Popeyes plans to open its first Taiwan outlet in the second quarter of 2024 in Taipei's Zhongzheng District.
Hailing from Louisiana, U.S., the brand, founded in 1972, is mainly known for its fried chicken.
The brand has over 3,900 restaurants in more than 30 countries, including the United States, Canada, China, South Korea, Singapore, France, and Germany. With annual revenues exceeding US$5 billion, it stands as the second-largest "chicken fast food restaurant" by number worldwide.
Popeyes' signature Louisiana-flavored chicken, accompanied by various sides and desserts like fries, vegetables, fried shrimp, and pies, contributed significantly to its success. The brand's sales have consistently shown steady growth globally, performing exceptionally in Asian markets.
The Taiwan branch intends to offer both original and spicy fried chicken, cajun fries, macaroni, salad, and desserts. It will also provide the iconic chicken sandwich introduced by the brand in 2019.
