TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Over 30 hours have passed since a mainland China fishing boat capsized off Dongding Island, and coast guard personnel continue their frantic search for the missing crew members.
The Minlong Fishing 61222, located about 1.1 nautical miles southwest of Taiwan's Dongding Island, met with a tragic accident Thursday (March 14) around 6 a.m. All six crew members fell overboard.
The capsize resulted in two deaths while two crew members were successfully rescued. There are still two crew members missing.
Immediately after the accident, the Coast Guard Administration set up an emergency response center. The administration's 9th Offshore Flotilla dispatched four boats to the scene.
In addition to local boats, Chinese helicopters, and maritime rescue vessels joined the search mission.
Never ceasing to rest, the maritime patrol personnel are pinning their hopes on the critical 72-hour window, refusing to give up any chance of finding the remaining crew members.
