TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Rising temperatures were evident across Taiwan on Thursday (March 14) due to the northeast monsoon and radiational cooling effects.

In northern Taiwan, morning temperatures range between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius, while other regions range between 15 and 17 degrees. Lower temperatures are anticipated in unobstructed areas and near mountains, with occasional showers expected in the eastern and western mountainous regions.

According to weather specialist WeatherRisk, Thursday morning temperatures were notably higher than the day before, with the lowest recorded temperature at 12.4 degrees in Guanxi Township, Hsinchu, followed by 13.1 degrees in Daxi Township, Taoyuan. Temperatures in the central north and northeast range from 13 to 15 degrees.

WeatherRisk forecasts temperatures in northern and eastern regions to rise to 22-24 degrees, central regions to 24-26 degrees, and southern regions to reach or exceed 27-28 degrees on Thursday and Friday. Nighttime temperatures in northern and northeastern regions will range from 14 to 17 degrees, indicating a significant temperature difference.

There are chances of more cloud coverage in northern regions during the first half of Saturday and sunny weather is anticipated afterward. Despite a chance of rain in northern and eastern regions on Sunday night, central and southern areas will remain unaffected.

Weekend temperatures are expected to be warmer, reaching 25 to 27 degrees in northern and eastern regions, while southern parts could hit 28 to 30 degrees or higher. Nighttime and early morning temperatures in open areas of the north and northeast can range between 16 to 18 degrees.

Weather experts caution that southerly winds could lead to fog at night over the western part and outlying islands during the weekend, potentially affecting traffic.

They predict a higher likelihood of rainfall due to a cold front passing over Taiwan and strengthening northeast monsoons on Monday (March 18), primarily affecting northern and eastern regions.
