TAIPEI (TVBS News) — After 25 years in operation, the Cinemark Theater in Ximending, Taipei, is set to close on March 31.
In an announcement, the theater indicated a range of environmental factors led to the "serious and regrettable" decision to close.
"After careful consideration, we are forced to announce that we will end the operation of the Cinemark Theater in Ximending and cease operation on March 31, 2024," the theater noted.
The announcement also stated that from Monday to Friday between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., as well as Saturdays and Sundays between 9 a.m. and noon, people can go to the 11th floor of the Cinemark Theater in Ximending.
Following the closures of its theaters in Core Pacific City in 2019 and Kaohsiung's Dream Mall in 2020, the Ximending closure leaves no remaining Cinemark locations in Taiwan.
However, the theater revealed plans to transition to a new business model, known as "Cinemark CMK Park," by establishing a new location in the Core Pacific Plaza by 2026.
