TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Taichung's renowned Yichung Shopping District is hosting a 17-day New Year's market from Feb. 2 to 18. The event features a lively street fair, an array of delectable food options, and a vibrant showcase of creative vendors.
The Yichung Shopping District stands out as Taichung's most-visited attraction, drawing an impressive 7.84 million visitors in total. Remarkably, it witnessed an average monthly peak of 790,000 visitors between January and October 2023, as reported by data from the Tourism Administration, under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
During the grand opening ceremony, Chen Hsin-chih, chairman of the district's management committee, remarked that "Traditionally, the Yichung district hosts 300 to 400 businesses, and for the New Year's fair, we've set up approximately 100 stalls."
Adding to the excitement, Chang Yuan, the head of Taichung's Economic Development Bureau, announced, "The festivities include a chance to win 3C prizes, periodic raffles, and our vendors will offer enticing time-limited promotions."
The management committee also disclosed that shoppers who spend over NT$100 during the event will be eligible to participate in a draw with a chance to win an iPad.
