TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Newly elected Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu on Monday (Feb. 5) convened the first inter-party consultation, declaring that the parliamentary session will start on Feb. 20.
This decision considers the Lunar New Year holiday and allows time for the preparation of parliamentary staff.
Han stated that he would invite Premier Chen Chien-jen and the heads of various departments to deliver a policy report and answer questions on this day.
Reflecting on his role, Han stated that he has pondered his approach for several days, deciding to embody sincerity and enthusiasm in his role as Speaker.
He urged all members to think about the future, regardless of whether they are participating in a cross-party consultation or parliamentary assembly.
Han is committed to mediating in a sincere, passionate, and kind manner, expressing hopes for mutual trust and cooperation between all political parties for the country's benefit.
Han held the first cross-party consultation on Monday afternoon, and proposals were made to initiate the parliamentary session either on Feb. 16 or Feb. 20. Following consultation, Han finally ruled for Feb. 20.
