TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As of Jan. 30, the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) reports 73.7% of available reserved seats have been booked during the Lunar New Year peak travel period between Feb. 11 and Feb. 14.
Amid the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday from Feb. 6 to Feb. 15, THSRC has added 461 train services. 1,875 trains will run within these ten days– a daily volume varying from 167 to 209 services. Compared with regular days, this marks a 29.0% increase in transport capacity.
The corporation is expecting peak travel to occur between Feb. 11 and Feb. 14. In response to this, some trains during the peak period will adjust the number of unreserved cabins from two to eight to serve more passengers. Depending on the situation, there will be an ad-hoc addition of trains with entirely unreserved cabins.
The company's official website will reveal information on popular schedules and available seats during the Lunar New Year holiday. It will also regularly update the crowd conditions at each station during the transport period.
THSRC advises passengers to book their round-trip tickets in advance. Passengers can purchase tickets at the station ticket windows and automatic ticket machines, or use the "T Express" mobile ticketing system, online platforms, phone voice reservation system, and convenience store ticket purchasing services.
