MIAOLI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party Vice President-elect Hsiao Bi-khim tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday (Jan. 29), marking her second confirmed case.

Hsiao underwent rapid testing during a tour in Miaoli following symptoms of congestion. The result returned positive, confirming her second COVID-19 infection.

Following the diagnosis, Hsiao diligently followed the Ministry of Health and Welfare's guidelines.

She wore a mask (doubled) for the entire process, refrained from dining, shaking hands, and maintaining zero contact with people. She successfully completed two events in Miaoli under these conditions.

On acknowledging her health condition, Hsiao expressed regret to supporters who eagerly wanted to take photographs or shake hands but could not do so.

However, to protect the people, Hsiao decided to cancel subsequent activities. She will not participate in the activities and has asked for people's understanding and forbearance on this matter.

At the time of her diagnosis, Hsiao had already informed President-elect Lai Ching-te, who was present at the time.
