TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese celeb couple Sun Peng and Di Ying were summoned to testify in a fraud case at the Taipei District Court on Friday (Jan. 26). The alleged culprit is Huang Chao-kang, better known by his pseudonym Huang Chi, notorious for repeatedly scamming high-profile individuals.
In 2018, while the couple's son, Edward Sun, was under investigation by the Shilin District Prosecutors Office after pleading guilty to a federal firearms charge in the U.S., Huang pretended to be the secretary of Sung Hsueh-jen, the former husband of Stella Chang. He introduced the couple to attorney Kuo Shang-wei, leaving Sun and Di to pay a total of NT$308,405 for legal and translation fees.
The couple expressed their helpless feelings in court, with Di calling for no more summons and insisting that they were victims. She admitted that Huang did work for them but assured that his fraud against other people didn't involve her and her husband. She also expressed confusion about their role as witnesses. Sun disclosed that when Huang first contacted him, he introduced himself as Amanda.
Huang is notorious for tricking Former president Chen Shui-bian. In 2008, Huang posed as a tarot card reader and an online consultant psychiatrist, and Chen reportedly visited Huang’s home the same year for a fortune-telling session.
