TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je argued that with proper planning, nuclear plants can be used for more than 30 to 60 years on Tuesday (Dec. 26).
Criticizing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te's nuclear power policy, Ko challenged his opponent's assertions that nuclear plants should be decommissioned after 30 years.
Ko also criticized current policies against fraud, particularly those implemented by Hou Yu-ih, stating they were failing to yield results. As an example, he cited an emphasis on arrest figures over tracking changes in drug usage rates.
Lai's campaign office fired back, asserting a nuclear-free homeland is a common consensus among citizens. Lai also questioned Ko and Hou's lack of a clear plan for the disposal of nuclear waste.
