NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — After a junior high school student in New Taipei City's Tucheng District was stabbed to death by another student with a knife, the school on Wednesday (Dec. 27) changed the location of the classroom and conducted group therapy and one-on-one counseling sessions for his classmates.
The classmates of the deceased have also created cards and recorded videos for the victim's parents as an expression of condolence.
Two days earlier, the student was stabbed five times by another boy with a knife, receiving severe wounds to the chest and neck. He lost a significant amount of blood and succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday evening.
The attack occurred after a female student was berated by the boy. She then asked a peer from the same grade to seek revenge. The latter and the boy had a dispute, and during the quarrel, the boy was stabbed.
The victim was immediately taken to Far Eastern Memorial Hospital and put on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in an attempt to save him. Despite a 34-hour resuscitation effort, he did not survive due to the severity of the injuries.
The New Taipei District Prosecutors Office confirmed the student's death Wednesday morning and went to the hospital to formally examine the body to determine the cause of death.
Depending on the autopsy results and evidence from the scene, they will decide whether to proceed with charges of intentional homicide or causing death by injury.
