KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai announced on Tuesday (Dec. 26) that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is proceeding on schedule with the construction of its first factory in Kaohsiung. The miscellaneous license for the second factory was issued in mid-December, with other administrative procedures underway concurrently.
The anticipated progress of TSMC’s factory construction in Kaohsiung has captured notable attention.
In addition, the Economic Development Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government indicated that Kaohsiung has abundant supplies of water and electricity, as well as comprehensive land availability. Plans have been set in place not only to construct a reclaimed water plant but also to accommodate renewable energy needs with the promotion of green electricity.
The Bureau also assured that the city government and related units are working at full strength to assist in the development of the industrial park, which includes reviewing urban planning, outlining improvements in transportation, inventorying public health and medical resources, and collaborations in talent training.
The Bureau underscored that the Kaohsiung City Government respects the plans of TSMC, maintaining close and cooperative communication to expedite the realization of the company's advanced processing facilities in Kaohsiung.
