TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te criticized Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Hou Yu-ih on Tuesday (Dec. 26) for allegedly spreading disinformation about social housing developments.
The criticism came during the second Central Election Committee (CEC) policy presentation earlier in the day.
Hou accused Lai of not providing social housing during his tenure as Tainan mayor. In response, Lai argued that over 200 social housing units are under construction for Tainan residents.
Lai also revealed his establishment of the National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center (HURC) during his time as premier to aid social housing development.
He noted the central government's leadership in affordable housing construction due to a lack of local development resources. He also credited President Tsai Ing-wen for the central government's increased social housing construction, thanks to the HURC.
